Injustice and Animal Agriculture

Animals matter.

Precious, fragile, and innocent.

The horror and suffering that animals live through before they are slaughtered is unimaginable, until you've seen the videos below. Yet since birth, we have been participating in a holocaust against these helpless, sentient beings. If you are unaware of the cruel practices of the meat industry and industrial farming, and believe that it's your moral obligation to see these videos and understand that there are consequences to having a meat and dairy based diet, then please read the rest of this article.

There is a reason for the U.S. government's complicity in allowing horrific industrial farming practices. The agribusiness giants that are responsible for 85% of all meat and dairy production in the United States have incredible power over Congress. Entities such as Monsanto, Tyson, and Dow comprise one of this country's largest and well-funded lobbying cartels. Because these companies profits rely on low production costs, they continually push politicians to enact legislation that loosen regulations on the animal slaughter industry. It is also important to take as a given that meat and dairy have been proven to do extraordinary harm to the human body, and that industrial farming is directly responsible for 18% of the greenhouse gasses causing climate change. The consumption of meat and dairy should be abolished.

If you haven't been in a slaughterhouse, you don't know what hell is. The scale of animal deaths each year is staggering: 33 million cows, 113 million pigs, and over 9 billion chickens.

The conditions that these tortured animals endure can't be described in words. It's heartbreaking, normal practice, and is happening right now and all over the world.

Mexico is the fifth largest exporter of beef to the United States.

It doesn't have to be this way. Europe has recently seen a 360% rise in those who now say that they've adopted a vegetarian or vegan diet. This is largely due to social media, an information dissemination campaign, and the resulting awareness of animal cruelty and the health benefits of a plant-based diet. And last year, Turin, Italy became the planet's first vegetarian European city with the election of Chiara Appendino.

Turin, Italy

She ran on a populist platform that emphasized progressive values such as environmentalism, conservation, and green energy.  One popular aspect of her campaign was a program to educate the city’s children about nutrition and animal welfare. It's been said that if all slaughterhouses were made of glass, everyone would be vegan. A child has the right, and from an early age, to know what is being done to animals. Unfortunately in the United States we have been the victim of the powerful agribusiness giants and their massive and deceptive ad campaigns promoting meat and dairy as healthy while hiding from us the holocaust that is industrial farming. We can help to stop these billionaire agribusiness owners from influencing politicians by supporting organizations such as Wolf-PAC. They are successfully working towards passing an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would establish elections which are free of the corrupting influence of money in our political system.

There are pivotal moments in history when an idea gradually gains acceptance and ultimately becomes ingrained in a society's social conscience. This is such a time. There is a burgeoning awareness of climate change and cruelty to animals. Momentum is on our side, and future enlightened generations will look back with disbelief, sadness, and condemnation, on the group of people who perpetrated unimaginable crimes. Here is a 5 minute trailer for the movie Unity. It portrays a planet where societies strive for the benefit of all Earthlings.

  1. Human beings are not living in accordance with nature. We squander more than we need, we are trashing the planet and we are torturing animals. A vegan diet could right all of these wrongs – make us healthier in body, mind and spirit. It will help us to be kinder to the planet, the animals and our fellow humans beings.
